Located in York Township, just minutes away from Ann Arbor, the Timber Ridge neighborhood is the focus on today’s neighborhood spotlight.

LIVING IN TIMBER RIDGE

Welcome to Timber Ridge Subdivision in York Township and Michigan's top rated Saline Schools. The subdivision’s address is Milan giving a mix of flexible access to Ann Arbor, Toledo, and downtown Detroit, while providing country living still within the organization of a subdivision.

Timber Ridge includes well built homes with 1+ acres. Their residents choose this location for its peacefulness, quality, and conveniences. This subdivision is just a little out of sight, by design! Giving greater privacy and shelter from the busy roads and highways, while at the same time also providing quick access. Residents also enjoy the conveniences of businesses close by, or for an easy stop on their way home. Timber Ridge truly provides the best of Saline and Ann Arbor.

We had the opportunity to talk with longtime resident of Timber Ridge, Cynthia Aaron, who is currently preparing to sell her property on Ridgeline Drive. She was not shy to share with us why she loved living in York Township, and all the amenities the community has to offer.

“I like living in York Township because it is a small village close enough to Ann Arbor to participate in cultural and other opportunities yet separate and quiet if you don't want the population density and traffic” says Cynthia. “Even though the mailing address is Milan, it is in the Saline School District and we can use the Saline library.”

Cynthia goes on to boast about the subdivision, “Timber Ridge subdivision is an active community where people look out for each other.  Yesterday, we had the parade of lawnmowers. There is an annual Halloween trick or treat for the kids (and trick or drink for the parents).”

Her insight provides a great visual of what it is like to be a resident of Timber Ridge. “The street is a loop about a mile long and is always filled with kids and families out walking.  The dog walkers all know each other and sometimes walk together.  There are joggers in the morning and everyone waves at each other.  Many of my neighbor's kids earned their gas money walking my dog in the evenings.”

When considering where you will call home, the community surrounding you is at the top of the list. Cynthia shares what drew her to this subdivision, “I fell in love with this neighborhood after looking at many, many homes.  It is quiet and secluded and my property borders on protected wetlands in the back.” She continues, “ I love seeing and hearing the wildlife all year round and the fact that no one can build close behind me.  There is privacy between neighbors because houses are spaced close enough to walk over and say hi but far enough apart for privacy.”

Despite providing the privacy and peacefulness of a rural town, York Township also has a large amount of amenities in the nearby area. Within a couple miles, you have access to the following:

  • Walmart

  • Sam’s Club

  • Costco

  • Meijer

  • Target

  • Home Depot

  • Lowe's

Not only do you have access to these major retailers, but the local businesses within Downtown Saline and Ann Arbor. Including, but not limited to, restaurants, boutiques, bakeries, and activity centers. Cynthia mentions how this area has supported her hobbies, “I am a clay sculptor and there are three places in Ann Arbor where I can go for lessons or to work on my own schedule.  There is classical music at the University and if I want opera,  ballet, or Broadway shows, I can just drive to Detroit.  Ann Arbor has the annual Art Fairs. There is local fishing and if I want to fish the great lakes, it is only a few hours to the thumb.  And I garden all spring, summer, and fall.”

The photos below are of a beautiful home at 10420 Ridgeline Drive, this residence was listed by agent Kathy Toth of Toth Team Network. This lovely ranch features 2552 square feet of open living. The granite center island kitchen is ideally set up for entertaining with ample custom maple cabinetry, large pantry, and double oven and cooktop. The partially covered deck off the kitchen expands living entertainment space into a private oasis. This home’s great room features an efficient wood stove, overlooking 3 open acres backing to protected wetlands. 10420 Ridgeline Drive hosts a full walkout basement with egress prepped for bath; ready for rec room or whatever you imagine. The large light-filled master boasts a huge walk-in closet, large windows with luxurious spa-like bath including a Jacuzzi tub, skylight, walk in shower, dual sinks. This home truly embodies everything Timber Ridge has to offer.

Homeowner, Cynthia, shares her favorite feature of this home. “I love my backyard. I would come home from work and sit on my deck where I built a gazebo, and just relax, grill dinner or maybe just graze from the garden.” She expresses, “ I'd listen to the wildlife, bird calls and watch the pheasants strut across the edge of the wetlands. When the farmer on Judd taps his trees for maple sap and peepers start, I know it is finally spring.”

“I built an Endless Pool in my lower deck and I can swim at all hours under the stars and feel completely safe outside. I planted this property for 3 season color and many of the plants have matured and naturalized so the perennials do a marvelous job with just a little boost from some annuals each year.” She explains, “ I don't buy flowers all summer long because I can just cut them from the property. Inside, the house is built to age-in-place. It is all on one level and there is a ramp in the garage making it easy to bring things in from the car. The home has a whole house generator with an automatic switch so power loss is not a problem although the wood stove can heat the house. This home has been my refuge.”

UTILITIES

Cynthia provided us some insight on what you can expect for your utility costs within Timber Ridge. “Utility costs are variable.  In winter time it runs about $200 a month but summertime can increase to $400 if the air conditioner and pool heater/pump are running a lot.” She continues,  “ Natural gas is not very high and I use the woodstove during the winter evenings for the ambience and dry heat, but it does reduce the gas bill.  Water is from a deep well and there is a water treatment system and although I don't need it, there is a reverse osmosis system for drinking water.”
